We post our audited financial statements to the site as they become available. Typically, the financial statement for each year is posted in the middle of the following year.
In February 2003, the Malaysian Tamil Educational Research and Development Foundation was established by a group of concerned citizens, led by former Member of Parliament for Teluk Intan Constituency, YB Manogaran Marimuthu and current Perak State Legislative Assembly Member YB Sivanesan Achalingam. Also known as Yayasan Penyelidikan dan Pembangunan Pendidikan Tamil Malaysia, the foundation is a not-for-profit organisation registered under the Registrar of Societies, although it does not have tax-exemption status.
We promote the cause of Tamil education in Malaysia by consolidating the strength of the Indian community through research, programming, and advocacy focused on Tamil education, as well as mother tongue education more broadly. We collaborate with all 529 Tamil schools in Malaysia and maintain close working relationships with Tamil school linked partner organisations, as well as external organisations such as Dong Zong, Lim Lean Geok Cultural Development Centre, and Pembangunan Ikram Malaysia.
Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Elanjelian Venugopal, the foundation is guided by its Executive Committee, which is elected once every two years. The current Executive Committee, elected in August 2023, will serve until mid-2025.
